I first discovered pottery making around 2010 at a Raleigh local art center. I took my first classes there and immediately fell in love with it. It soon became a serious hobby. I met many inspiring ceramic artists and learned so much from them. In 2019 I set up my own pottery studio at home and became a studio potter. I hope I can explore the path and enrich both my life and others through the pottery I created.
My works are usually started wheel thrown, with optional alternation. They are fired in medium (cone 6 electric) or high temperature (cone 10 gas or wood). I use only food safe glazes. All my pieces are functional and intended to be used by their owners. There's nothing more satisfactory to hear people telling me that they use my pottery daily.
Samples of my work can be found in my gallery page
Born in China and living in NC, I am inspired by both the Asian ceramics culture and the NC pottery tradition. I am trying to reach a balance between artistry and functionality. I firmly believe that each aspect of a pot - shape and form, decoration, glaze, function - serves a purpose and contributes equally to the piece as a whole, no more and no less.
